Naïf and Woosh setting new standards for baby care: from shampoo to diaper
Naïf, a pioneer in gentle and microplastic-free baby care, and Woosh, known for its innovative approach to eco-friendly diapers, have a shared mission: to leave the world a little better for the little ones. Sjoerd Trompetter (co-founder of Naïf) and Romiena Decoutere (COO of Woosh) talk about their collaboration, shared vision and hopes for the future.
“You are both industry pioneers, but have different approaches. How did the idea of a collaboration come about and how do you complement each other?”
Sjoerd (Naïf): “Our shared promise for the future of babies is what connects us. Woosh focuses on the entire process from production to distribution and recycling of materials and has developed a hugely impactful solution for the diaper industry. We want to make baby products that you can use without worries, because as a parent you have enough on your mind. That means qualitative and mild care, without microplastic. Together we strive for less waste and a new standard in the baby industry. It is inspiring to strengthen each other in this way.”
Romiena (Woosh): “Our mission is to create a world without diaper waste. We do this by recycling diapers and reducing the waste mountain. Naïf fits perfectly into that picture: they make baby care products without microplastic, while we strive for as much reuse of plastic as possible. We already knew each other from previous projects and we immediately noticed that our philosophies fit seamlessly. Both brands focus on the same target group and complement each other beautifully. This made the collaboration a logical next step.”
Explaining the Waste Mountain
The mountain of waste from disposable diapers is huge: in Belgium alone, thousands of diapers end up in landfills every day (about 7.5% of the REST waste in Belgium consists of diapers). Woosh wants to tackle this problem by recycling used diapers and reintroducing the reusable materials into the market. This process has the greatest impact on reducing CO₂ emissions.
Naïf tackles the problem from a different angle: by driving change in the care industry as a pioneer. For example, they were the first to launch plastic-free baby wipes. They show that it is possible: care without microplastics, with quality ingredients and mild for the (baby) skin. Products that you can simply trust. Together, the brands set a new standard in the baby care industry.
“Who or what inspires you to keep building a better future?”
Romiena (Woosh): “For us it’s simple: every diaper, every change, every pickup and delivery with Woosh helps us achieve our goals. It’s so satisfying to know that we’re really making a difference. The feedback from our Woosh members – parents, daycares – keeps us motivated. They tell us how important our mission is. And that also applies to our partnership with Naïf: by working together, we keep innovating and improving, and challenging the status quo. The shared DNA of our brands means that we keep striving for impact.”
“If you look ahead 10 years, what will the baby care industry look like?”
Sjoerd (Naïf): “We hope that qualitative and gentle baby care will gain even more ground, both in the Netherlands and abroad. And we know that it can! In recent years, we have been able to support many babies and parents during the wild ride that we call parenthood. Together with Woosh, we want to show that it is possible to make a real impact as a brand.”
A Look into the Future
Naïf and Woosh are more than partners; they are allies in the fight for a new baby care industry. Together they are taking steps towards a world with a new standard for baby care: from baby shampoo to diapers. As Romiena so aptly puts it: “At Woosh we firmly believe: every change matters.”
